CUET UG 2027 Eligibility Criteria: Class 12, Age and University Rules

CUET eligibility has two layers: NTA’s rules for appearing in the exam and the university’s rules for a particular programme. The CUET UG 2027 bulletin is not available yet, so use the 2026 rules below as a reference only.

2027 status: NTA has not published the CUET UG 2027 eligibility rules. Confirm every condition in the 2027 bulletin and in your target university’s admission bulletin before applying.

Who could appear under the latest published rules?

For CUET UG 2026, the information bulletin said there was no age limit to appear in the examination. It allowed candidates who had passed Class 12 or were appearing in Class 12 in 2026 to take the test. It also stated that candidates must meet any age or other eligibility criteria set by the university or institution where they seek admission. These were 2026 rules and should not be treated as confirmed for 2027.

Exam eligibility does not equal course eligibility

A candidate can be allowed to sit CUET and still not meet a programme’s admission requirements. Universities may specify subjects, minimum qualifying marks, required combinations, category conditions or other criteria for each course. A general statement such as “I passed Class 12” does not answer whether you qualify for a specific B.A., B.Com., B.Sc. or professional programme.

Before selecting CUET test papers, open the current programme-specific eligibility table from the university. Check the exact subject names, whether a language or General Aptitude Test is required, and what Class 12 subjects or marks are expected. Do not rely only on coaching summaries or an older admission brochure.

How to check your eligibility safely

  1. Choose a few target programmes and universities.
  2. Read each university’s latest undergraduate bulletin and map it against the NTA subject list.
  3. Check age, qualifying examination, subject combinations, minimum marks and reservation documentation separately.
  4. Resolve conflicting information using the official university admission helpdesk before submitting your application.
  5. Recheck after the 2027 bulletin is issued; rules can change between cycles.

What if you are appearing for Class 12?

The 2026 rule included candidates appearing in the qualifying examination that year. Whether that wording and its conditions remain the same for CUET UG 2027 will be decided in the next bulletin. Also confirm the university’s document-verification deadline and the result or marksheet requirements.
